New Dayang Shipbuilding Co, affiliated to SUMEC Group Corporation (SUMEC), a subsidiary of Sinomach, delivered a Crown series bulk carrier with a dead weight capacity of 82,000 tons to the customer on March 31, the first ship it delivered after restoring production.
Considering the current pandemic, the shipyard and its customer reached an agreement to cancel the on-site naming and signing ceremony and complete the new ship delivery procedure by signing mailing documents.
The Crown 82K bulk carrier, with world-leading performances, carried out its tank tests at the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Nagasaki Institute, which was the first open cooperation between Japan and Chinese shipbuilders in technological resources. Under the same displacement and cargo load, the ship’s fuel consumption indicator is reduced by 5 percent, making it greatly superior to other vessels of its kind.
Affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the project was faced with insufficient construction personnel and a tight schedule after work resumption. New Dayang Shipbuilding made the Crown bulk carrier a top priority and coordinated labor resources, successfully ensuring its timely delivery.
