China had an opening ceremony for its B20 China 2016 meeting in Beijing’s Great Hall of the People, on Jan 26, with the chairman of the China National Machinery Industry Corp (Sinomach), Ren Hongbin, addressing the gathering as chair of the B20 infrastructure group.

The B20 is an important site for involving the international business community in global economic governance and international economic and trade rule formulation.

Ren spoke about global infrastructure development and the global economy at a seminar, while Wang Yang, a member of the Party’s Political Bureau and State Council vice-premier, took part in the afternoon and spoke about the B20 work groups and the G20 Summit, which will be held in the city of Hangzhou this year.

Afterwards, Ren spoke with the media and took questions on global infrastructure development from reporters.

The B20 has group meetings and a summit to explore major issues in global economic growth and to propose policies for the G20 summit, for a more balanced, sustainable global economic development.
