China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) has achieved significant milestones in various projects, demonstrating its strong capabilities in supporting energy security, upgrading infrastructure, and strengthening development foundations in Belt and Road countries. These achievements highlight the responsibility and expertise of a technology-driven, specialized central State-owned enterprise.

The Boundji-Ewo Power Transmission & Transformation Project commissioned in the Republic of the Congo

The Boundji-Ewo Power Transmission & Transformation Project, constructed by Sinomach CMEC, is now officially operational. Government officials, community representatives, and the project team celebrated the milestone together. This essential power infrastructure project in the Congo, includes a 110 kV transmission line, a new 110/30/20 kV substation, substation interval expansion, and a 20 kV distribution network. With its completion, Ewo City now has stable electricity, ending power shortages, improving public services and living conditions, and injecting new momentum into regional economic development.

Vietnam Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant Expansion Project receives PAC

The Hoa Binh 2×240 MW Hydropower Plant Expansion Project, constructed by CMEC, has received the Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC), marking the successful completion and commercial operation of its first unit and the start of the warranty period.

Building on the existing 8×240 MW hydropower station, the expansion adds two 240 MW units and is a key project for enhancing Vietnam's clean energy supply and ensuring national power security. In August 2025, the first unit was connected to the grid two months ahead of schedule with Vietnam's national leaders in attendance. The project will provide long-term support for the sustainable development of Vietnam's power system.

The LNG and heavy cargoes unloading jetty project for Cambodia's key energy project commences

The supporting jetty project for Cambodia's 2×450 MW Gas-fired Combined Cycle Power Plant Project, built by China Ocean Engineering Construction General Bureau (COECG), a subsidiary of Sinomach, has entered the main construction phase. The project is a key China–Cambodia energy cooperation project under the BRI framework.

As a core facility for Cambodia's first liquefied natural gas (LNG) power plant, the project will include a high-standard dedicated berth and modern loading and unloading systems to accommodate large LNG carriers. Once completed, it will remove the "last mile" bottleneck for fuel supply, handling the trans-shipment of LNG and critical power generation equipment, ensuring the safe, efficient, and stable operation of the power plant and supporting Cambodia's power supply enhancement and energy transition.
