China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), a subsidiary of Sinomach, and Zonergy Company (Zonergy), a state-level high-tech enterprise, attended a donation ceremony on April 8 at Pakistani prime minister's office in the capital city of Islamabad. The donation of medical supplies was designed to assist the Pakistani government in fighting the novel coronavirus pandemic. Imran Khan, prime minister of Pakistan, was present at the ceremony and met with CMEC’s representatives.

Given the rapid spread of the coronavirus pandemic in Pakistan, the Chinese embassy called upon Chinese companies to contribute to the local anti-pandemic fight. CMEC and Zonergy, as large multinational companies, took the lead by donating 5 million rupees (of which 3 million were from CMEC) to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund, as well as anti-pandemic medical supplies worth 3 million rupees, including 30,000 disposable masks, 100 N95 masks and 300 protective suits.

During the ceremony, Khan on behalf of the government and the people of Pakistan, expressed his gratitude to CMEC for its donation. He underscored that CMEC as a well-developed Chinese enterprise in Pakistan has exemplified the sense of responsibility and profound friendship between China and Pakistan. The government will continue to provide support and assistance to Chinese enterprises in their development in Pakistan, he added.
