2025-07-14As a leading central enterprise specializing in engineering and technology, China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) is accelerating its push toward digitalization and intelligent innovation. By aligning with the industry's most advanced demands, the group has recently achieved major breakthroughs in key areas such as humanoid robotics and offshore energy platforms.
Breakthrough in humanoid robot industry
China United Engineering Corporation Limited (CUC), a subsidiary of CMEC, has successfully won the bid for a pioneering humanoid robot application demonstration project in Hangzhou High-Tech Zone (Binjiang district) in Zhejiang province.
This landmark project will encompass R&D, testing and office functions, spanning a construction area of approximately 39,000 square meters. It aims to become a national innovation hub for the humanoid robotics industry by bringing together top-tier talent and cutting-edge resources.
Once completed, the project will serve as a driving force for technological breakthroughs and industrial-scale applications, positioning Hangzhou as a leader in humanoid robot development. It is expected to accelerate the commercialization of research outcomes and inject new vitality into the development of regional economy and advanced manufacturing sectors.
Offshore intelligent platform sets sail
In another milestone, CMEC's subsidiary China Machinery Industry Construction Group Inc. (SINOCONST) has completed the central processing platform for the Kenli 10-2 oilfield cluster, the largest offshore oil and gas platform in China's Bohai Sea. Recently, the platform set sail from Qingdao, Shandong province, marking a major step in the first phase of the Kenli 10-2 development project.
The platform — measuring 22.8 meters in height, supported by eight legs and weighing over 20,000 metric tons — covers a surface area equivalent to nearly 15 standard basketball courts. SINOCONST led the installation and commissioning of instrumentation and communication systems and developed an integrated intelligent assistant for engineering production. This system enables seamless integration of intelligent operations, energy management and safety monitoring.
Thanks to these innovations, the platform was completed on time, with high quality and safety standards. It is expected to begin operations within the year, setting records for offshore platform size and weight in the Bohai Sea. Once operational, it will significantly boost energy supply capabilities in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and surrounding coastal areas.
