Thailand waste-to-energy project completes successful 72-hour full-load trial

2025-06-16The TPIPP 150MW RDF waste-to-energy project in Thailand, contracted and constructed by China National Electric Engineering Co., Ltd. (CNEEC), a subsidiary of Sinomach Group, has recently achieved a key milestone. The project's high-temperature, ultra-high-pressure circulating fluidized bed waste incineration boiler has successfully completed a 72-hour full-load trial operation.

The boiler is the first of its kind in the world to operate at parameters of 540°C and 15.4MPa, incorporating an external bed heat exchange system and one-time reheat technology. During the trial, output remained stable and all performance indicators met contract specifications. Emission levels were lower than Thai standards and exceeded the requirements of the EU 2010/75/EU Directive.
The project includes three such boilers, each capable of processing 2,000 tons of waste per day—the highest daily capacity of any waste incineration boiler worldwide. It is also the first to apply ultra-high parameters in waste-to-energy generation.
The new technology breaks through the long-standing industry limits of 400°C and 4MPa, improving energy efficiency by 50% compared to conventional waste incineration plants.

Once fully operational, the plant is expected to process over 1.8 million tons of waste annually, replace 360,000 tons of standard coal, generate 1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, supply power to 300,000 households, and reduce carbon emissions by 860,000 tons per year.
During project implementation, the CNEEC team ensured that the first boiler passed performance tests on the first attempt, supported by refined management and technical innovation. Work is now underway to complete installation and commissioning of the remaining two boilers, with full plant operation scheduled for the second half of the year.
