It was the first time that China had ever adopted the approach of joint design in its foreign assistance programs. The newly-inaugurated buildings have set an example of Tajik architectural styles and Chinese construction technologies and a major result in the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

More specifically, Sinomach was responsible for the design and whole-process management of the new Tajik government office building.

Joint design showcases architectural beauty

The new Tajik government office building was jointly designed by the Chinese and Tajik sides. The design plan was accomplished by the Tajik side, while China IPPR International Engineering Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Sinomach, engaged in the design of specific projects and whole-process management.

With a total floor area of 46,000 square meters, the new Tajik government office building comprised conference halls, office and equipment rooms. After several rounds of discussions, the design personnel from the two sides reached an agreement that the building facade and interior decoration would be done in accordance with classical European architectural style and incorporated with Islamic culture as well as modern architectural elements.

The project has become an exemplary of modern Chinese construction technologies and traditional Tajik architectural arts.

Efficient and pragmatic cooperation leads to high-quality project construction

The construction of the Tajik government office building primarily followed Chinese standards. Relevant construction materials and equipment were simultaneously supplied by the two sides. It has become an example of China-Tajikistan pragmatic cooperation.

The new Tajik government office building was designed with a seismic fortification intensity of nine degrees. To ensure its safety, the design and construction personnel of China IPPR International Engineering conducted earthquake tests on key decorative parts in leading Chinese seismic laboratories. After the completion of relevant tests, they handed over a final test report to the Tajik side and won the recognition of the latter in the implementation of Chinese seismic design standards.

During the construction process, a majority of building materials and equipment were procured from China while the rest of them were purchased from local market. The dual-market procurement was mainly designed to ensure project quality and provide the Tajik side with convenience in its future maintenance.

Work together toward the building of a friendship bridge

The Chinese and Tajik sides have engaged in closer cooperation to ensure high-quality of the new Tajik government office building and its handover on time. They have also forged deep friendship in the construction process.

The new China-aided Tajik government office building, which has the highest administrative authority in the Central Asian country, has become a symbol of long-term friendship and practical cooperation between the two countries. It is expected to elevate bilateral relations to a higher level and chart a blue print for the further development of China-Tajikistan relationship.
