An online matchmaking meeting for electromechanical markets in Belarus and East China’s Fujian province, a curtain-raiser to the 2021 Chinese Commodities and Services Belarus Online Show, was held from Feb 2 to 3.

The China and Belarus Exhibition of Goods and Services is an annual event co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and CMEC International Exhibition Co Ltd (CMEC EXPO), a wholly owned subsidiary of Sinomach affiliate CMEC. This year’s event was staged online responding to anti-pandemic requirements, and more online activities will follow up as planned.

Affected by the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic, the world’s economy and global trade suffered a sharp decline in 2020, and China’s foreign trade development faces a complex and grim environment. However, the total value of China’s imports and exports for the year reached a record high against a worldwide downward pressure, making the Chinese economy the only major one to register positive growth in 2020.

The dual-circulation development pattern, in which domestic and overseas markets reinforce each other with the domestic market being the mainstay, as well as further expanded and deepened high-level opening-up and new advantages in international cooperation and competition, have injected great impetus into the development of foreign trade enterprises.

The CMEC EXPO is an inter-industry resource sharing platform that eliminates resource islands and breaks market barriers. It strives for high-quality matchmaking to facilitate demand transformation and develop potential customers.

The February meeting intensified communication between mechanical and electrical enterprises in Fujian and Russian merchants and tightened the cooperative ties between the two sides as they develop a new path to win-win trade.

To further promote the joint construction of the innovative development of the country’s foreign trade and the friendship between countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, the Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce and CMEC EXPO will continue to give full play to their strengths in realizing trade and investment facilitation based on the needs of regional development, and to help the international community work together to fight against the pandemic and boost economic growth.

The CMEC EXPO will act on the principle of “openness, co-creation and sharing”, and build an online comprehensive platform for enterprises by integrating cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence in a bid to further deepen cooperation between China and Belarus and contribute to local infrastructure construction and product and service circulation.
