The 16th Shanghai International Trade Fair for Automotive Parts, Equipment and Service Suppliers (Automechanika Shanghai), co-hosted by China Machinery International Engineering Design & Research Institute Co (CMIE), a subsidiary of Sinomach, and Messe Frankfurt Shanghai, one of the top players in the global exhibition industry, was held from Dec 2 to 5 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai.

The COVID-19 pandemic this year has had a huge impact and brought challenges to China’s and indeed the world’s automotive parts industry. The 2020 Automechanika Shanghai has bridged supplier-customer communication in the global auto aftermarket, sent strong signals for the industry’s recovery, and injected momentum to the country’s dual-circulation development paradigm that has the domestic market as the mainstay and the domestic and international markets reinforcing each other.

With an area of 280,000 square meters, the exhibition attracted 3,845 companies from 29 countries and regions all over the world, including numerous globally leading automakers.

This year’s event focused on building the future automotive ecosystem and followed the new dual-circulation development pattern and the click-and-mortar operating model. A newly developed exhibition online service platform -- AMS Live -- debuted during the event, breaking geographic restrictions to ensure smooth communication, and exploring channels for more extensive procurement, business cooperation and information sharing to meet changing market needs.

In addition, the exhibition created a first-ever cross-platform zone for trade promotion, providing overseas exhibitors with an opportunity to communicate with on-site participants in real time through the internet platform.

As many as 62 forums, seminars and activities were held during the four-day exhibition, both live and online. For example, the AIAG Auto Parts Purchasing Leadership and Suppliers Summit and the Automotive Aftermarket Summit were organized with the themes of “opportunities and challenges in the auto market”, “recognizing the current status of the auto industry” and “looking into future market trends”.

Sinomach, as a giant exhibition organizer in China, strives to elevate its domestic shows to a higher level, revitalize the related industries hit by the epidemic, and boost the consumer market, promoting the smooth progress of the dual circulation model as a contribution to national development.

After 16 years of progress, Automechanika Shanghai is regarded as a top industry event that connects China and the world and helps build an unlocked global industrial chain.
