CMEC completes southern Angola's largest general hospital

2024-12-05The Sumbe (Cuanza Sul) Hospital, the largest general hospital in southern Angola, has been inaugurated following the completion of Section B of its installation and renovation project. Undertaken by the China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), the project has now entered its quality assurance phase.
Angolan President João Lourenço presided over the ceremony, accompanied by First Lady Ana Dias Lourenço, Minister of Health Silvia Lutucuta and Governor of Cuan Sul Mara Quiosa.

In his speech, Lourenço commended CMEC for its significant contributions to Angola's infrastructure development, emphasizing the project's timely completion and exceptional quality. He highlighted the hospital's critical role in providing enhanced medical services to Angola's southern provinces, including Benguela and Huambo.
The facility is expected to create both direct and indirect employment opportunities, stimulate health-related small and medium-sized enterprises, and boost local productivity.

Designed and constructed in accordance with European medical building standards, the project showcases CMEC's expertise in medical infrastructure. From material selection to construction, the hospital adheres to rigorous international benchmarks.
Despite technical challenges and stringent quality requirements, CMEC's project team leveraged its extensive experience and meticulous attention to details to deliver the project on schedule.
The completion of Sumbe (Cuanza Sul) Hospital not only elevates the healthcare standards for local residents but also demonstrates CMEC's commitment to advancing the high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
