An opening ceremony of a project for public benefits undertaken by China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), a subsidiary of Sinomach, was recently held in Equatorial Guinea. Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, president of Equatorial Guinea, attended the event, along with officials of national and local government bodies.

Obiang spoke highly of the quality of the completed project, saying that it has had a profound impact on improving local people’s livelihoods and promoting economic and social development

The project, which started in 2017 and completed in August 2019, included the construction of residences, farmers’ markets, medical centers and other facilities. It has greatly improved infrastructure in the region and helped rural residents settle their housing, education, and medical care and employment concerns.

To fulfill its social responsibilities and uphold the concept of win-win cooperation, CMEC employed a large number of local workers and made great contributions to solving the local unemployment problem. The project team also conducted regular visits to the employees’ families to build closer ties with the local workers.

The construction materials needed for the project, such as wood and cement, were mainly purchased locally, elevating the level of the local market economy and increasing the income of local residents, which won support and high praise from the people and the government.
