The 19th China (Shenyang) International Automobile Industry Expo, hosted by China National Machinery Industry International Co (Sinomachint), a subsidiary of Sinomach, was held from August 19 to 24 at the Shenyang International Exhibition Center in Shenyang, northeast China’s Liaoning province.

It was the first large-scale exhibition in the region after the novel coronavirus epidemic this year.

With an exhibition area of 130,000 square meters, this year’s auto expo attracted more than 110 brands including Maserati, Jaguar, Land Rover, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Acura, and Infiniti, with more than 1,000 vehicles put on display. According to incomplete statistics, the intended trade volume of the six-day auto show reached nearly one billion yuan ($145.9 million).

On the first day of the expo, a number of press meetings showed global and domestic brands and focused on selected vehicle models and innovative technologies. With its important strategic position and huge platform effect, the auto expo has become the carmakers’ preferred channel to release their hit products. It is expected to instill confidence and vitality into the region’s auto market after half a year’s silence.

This year’s auto expo, with a focus on exhibition services, marketing and publicity, industrial direction and industry exchanges, offered improved quality and added online services such as online promotion and interaction, and online ticketing.

Automobile sales are an important industry and account for ten percent of total retail sales of consumer goods. The expo revived not only the local car market but also the exhibition industry in Liaoning province.

It also boosted automobile consumption and accelerated the transformation and upgrading of Shenyang’s manufacturing industries, contributing to the new “dual circulation” development pattern featuring the domestic market as the mainstay with foreign markets complementing it.

Faced with the epidemic, the organizers of large exhibitions are confronted with challenges. The expo made the safety of exhibitors and visitors a priority and implemented detailed epidemic prevention and control plans.
