China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), a subsidiary of Sinomach, recently completed boiler foundation pouring of the Phase-II Project of Serbia KOSTOLAC-B Power Station, laying a solid foundation for steel frame hoisting. It marked that the main section of the project is on a fast pace of construction.

The pouring began on May 15 this year, and took 40 days to complete.

The power station is the largest and most important energy infrastructure project in Serbia over the past three decades, and exemplifies China-Serbia cooperation. Its smooth implementation has written a brilliant new chapter for China-Serbia friendship.

As spring turns into summer Serbia suffers from unpredictable weather and torrential rains. Given that the time-consuming concreting must avoid rainy days, the bad weather imposed great challenges.

In the face of the novel coronavirus pandemic and rainy weather, the project department has taken a holistic approach to epidemic prevention and control, engineering construction and internal management.

The team collected information from various channels, kept an eye on weather changes, and made meticulous arrangements according to on-site conditions. They communicated in detail about concrete supply and quality control for each process beforehand and prepared for starting work at any time.

The company’s overall planning and scientific and effective organization, as well as its all-out efforts to promote the project’s progress, has won unanimous appreciation from the Serbian side.
