People across the world are eagerly awaiting the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. Years of intense preparations by China have crested, with all of the sporting venues, the Olympic Village and the media center readied months ahead of the Feb 4 opening of the Games.

By hosting the Olympics again, Beijing is demonstrating its resolve for international cooperation and putting forward some of the best infrastructure aimed at strengthening the spirit and outcome of the Games.

Sinomach, a front-runner of China's machinery industry, has played a key role in the preparatory work for the Beijing Games, including acting as an apparel maker for the Games, and provided cold-proof clothing for safety inspectors and uniforms for Chinese athletes at the opening and closing ceremonies.

Designing tailor-made sports suits for opening and closing ceremonies

Sinomach subsidiary SUMEC Textile & Light Industry Co Ltd (SUMEC Textile & Light) designed 11 styles of suits and produced 11,000 pieces of clothing in 40 days. The project was generated by ANTA, a uniform and equipment supplier of the Games. SUMEC Textile & Light undertaking the project has been highly recognized by the industry for its high-quality products and services.

To meet the demands of the Games, SUMEC Textile & Light innovated the production process by using waterproof and antistatic superior fabrics on the outside to make the clothes wind and moisture resistant and high-tech graphene — an atom-thick sheet of carbon — on the inside for better warmth.

The sportswear also employs an ergonomic streamline design as well as caulking and laser technologies. Different knitting materials are used for stitching in key moving parts so as to improve flexibility.

SUMEC Textile & Light is eyeing the coordinated development of a supply chain and industrial chain business, and has built an exclusive lab for its partner ANTA.

To cover the entire industrial chain, the company has built fabric sample rooms, a certification laboratory, an exhibition center, and workshops for processing, proofing and cutting, and always gives close attention to process flow, production efficiency and quality, which has laid a good foundation for undertaking the Games projects.

Keeping athletes and security workers warm

Sinomach subsidiary CHTC China Yarn (Wuxi) Co Ltd, a leading company of the nylon staple fiber development and manufacturing sector, has cooperated with Shanghai Antu Technology Co Ltd to produce a new functional nylon staple fiber for sports uniforms and warm clothing for security workers at Beijing 2022.

The new functional nylon staple fiber can absorb and convert light and heat of the human body to realize long periods of heat storage. It also features lightweight, softness, good resilience and high water-absorbing quality. The fiber is widely used for multi-dimensional heat storage and in thermal insulation wadding of clothing.

The first drafter of working standards of the nylon staple fiber industry, CHTC China Yarn is specialized in the research and development and manufacturing of differential functional nylon staple fiber. The company has brought out a variety of products that have been widely used in the military, sports, production, home textiles and other industries.
