China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) continues to pursue high-quality and resilient development as it actively participates in the Belt and Road Initiative. By aligning closely with the development priorities of host countries, the group has recently delivered a series of benchmark projects in the power and healthcare sectors.
These achievements have garnered strong praise from national leaders, highlighting the international influence of the CMEC brand and reinforcing its role in deepening global cooperation and building a shared path to prosperity.
CMEC signs GIS substation project in Mauritius
CMEC recently signed a general contracting agreement with the Central Electricity Board of Mauritius for the Mauritius GIS Substation Project, a milestone for the company. The project, funded by the African Development Bank, includes the construction of 10 substations of 66/22kV GIS (gas insulated switchgear).
As a key initiative for modernizing Mauritius' national power grid, the project will adopt advanced GIS technology, known for its compact footprint, high safety standards and strong environmental adaptability.
Once operational, the substations will significantly improve grid efficiency and reliability, meeting growing regional energy demands and supporting Mauritius' strategic goal of achieving 60 percent renewable energy by 2030.
This contract marks a major step forward in CMEC's efforts to expand its business in southeastern Africa's power market. The project team will oversee all phases — design, procurement and construction — ensuring strict quality control and on-time, high-standard delivery.
CAMCE delivers Enmore Hospital project in Guyana
Another flagship achievement comes from China CAMC Engineering Co., Ltd. (CAMCE), a subsidiary of CMEC, which has recently completed and handed over Enmore Hospital — part of the Guyana Regional Hospital Cluster Project.
Built under an engineering, procurement and construction model, the project was officially inaugurated in a ceremony attended by Guyanese President Mohamed Irfaan Ali, Chinese Ambassador to Guyana Yang Yang and other dignitaries.
Ali commended the Chinese team for their efficiency and world-class design and construction capabilities, noting that the project is a major step in strengthening Guyana's healthcare infrastructure, improving public welfare and supporting social progress.
Enmore Hospital is the second facility to be delivered among six hospitals in the regional cluster. It stands out as the most comprehensive of its kind in Guyana, boasting the most complete medical departments, the most advanced equipment and the broadest service coverage.
As a model project under the China-Guyana "Health Silk Road" cooperation, it has significantly enhanced CAMCE's brand presence in the country and laid a strong foundation for further expansion into the Guyanese and Caribbean markets.
