Cameroonian Minister of Water and Energy Gaston Eloundou Essomba on April 20 announced the completion of a Chinese-aided water project and relevant supporting facilities in Sanaga of Yaounde, which marked a decisive step taken by the Cameroonian government in further strengthening the supplies of drinking water toward its people.
The ceremony also marked the completion of power supply lines for the water production and supply plant in Cameroon, laying a solid foundation for the project's commission and high-quality handover as scheduled.

With a contract value of US$ 798 million, the Cameroonian water production and supply project is built by China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), a subsidiary of Sinomach.
The CMEC started its construction task when the last land parcel was handed over to it by the Cameroonian government on December 16, 2023. Right now, the last-phase commission work has been under full operation and the CMEC has been doing its utmost to ensure the smooth completion of the rest work and the safe and high-quality operation of the entire project.
The Chinese-built water production and supply project is a Cameroon's major people's livelihood project with a daily capacity of 300,000 cubic meters. Upon its completion, the project will fundamentally resolve the shortage of drinking water for people in Yaounde and nearby areas and deliver tangible benefits to over 2.5 million people.
In the years ahead, the CMEC will continually take part in the building of water production and supply projects in Cameroon and other African countries and promote the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative in a high-quality,and sustainable manner to benefit people in relevant nations.
