Angola's Secretary of State for Land Transport, Jorge Bengue Calumbo, recently conducted an inspection of the Bungo-Baia section of the Luanda double track railway project. The project, undertaken by China Machinery Engineering Corp (CMEC), a subsidiary of the Chinese construction giant Sinomach, represents the third railway endeavor executed by CMEC in Angola. Furthermore, it serves as an extension of the initial and second phases of the ambitious Luanda railway project.

The completion and subsequent operation of the Bungo-Baia section is expected to bring relief to the mounting traffic pressure experienced in the city of Luanda. Additionally, it is poised to drive economic progress and development of the surrounding region. The Luanda railway project has garnered significant attention due to its ability to enhance transportation connectivity and facilitate improved trade within Angola.
