The 2022 World Conference on Clean Energy Equipment (WCCEE) opened on Aug 27 in the city of Deyang, Southwest China's Sichuan province. The conference was co-hosted by the Sichuan provincial government and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

More than 2,000 officials, scholars and industry representatives from 21 countries and regions participated in the three-day event, either in person or virtually.

The conference showcased new technologies, achievements and products in clean energy equipment and related fields around the world, and featured core technologies in the utilization of hydrogen, wind as well as tidal and solar energy, and the application of new-energy technologies in automobile manufacturing.

Top clean energy enterprises including Sinomach displayed their services and technique samples on ecological environment improvement, technical detection, energy-saving and emission reduction technology, all of which would benefit the globe.

Thirteen subsidiaries of Sinomach including SINOMACH Heavy Equipment Group Co Ltd (Sinomach-HE), China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), SUMEC Group Corporation (SUMEC), SINOMACH Intelligence Technology Co Ltd, YTO Group Corporation (YTO), China Foma (Group) Co Ltd (China Foma), the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Mechanization Sciences, the Hefei General Machinery Research Institute Co Ltd (HGMRI), SIPPR Engineering Group Co Ltd, Sinomach Precision Industry Co, the Shenyang Academy of Instrumentation Science Co Ltd, and China National Electric Apparatus Research Institute Co Ltd took the spotlight at the conference with their clean energy projects, integrated solutions and latest technology and equipment.

At the conference, Sinomach signed equipment purchase contracts valued at 10.3 billion yuan ($1.49 billion), and achieved contracted industrial investment totaling 5.36 billion yuan ($778 million).

R&D and Manufacturing

The conference highlighted the latest achievements in R&D and manufacturing of clean energy equipment such as key nuclear power equipment, key technologies of hydrogen storage and transportation equipment, power tools and vehicles.

The world's highest grade large forging press, an 80,000-ton item independently developed and manufactured by Sinomach-HE, was among the exhibits at the conference. HGMRI sketched a complete hydrogen energy industry chain that integrates production, storage, transportation, hydrogenation and hydrogen use.

The photovoltaic intelligent inspection system for UAV (unmanned aerial vehicles) developed by Sinomach, features strong wind resistance and a maximum flight altitude of 1,000 meters. It is equipped with multiple sensors including a five-lens tilt camera and multiple spectrometers as well as laser radar, making it a good specimen of clean energy equipment.

Other products also shined at the exhibition. The electric mower, developed by YTO and SUMEC, powered by a 48-volt lithium battery, tailored for garden lawn management in American and European countries and golf courses, airports, parks and other areas needing gardening lawn trimming in China; and the ATV (all-terrain vehicle) launched by Jiangsu LINHAI Group have long enjoyed a high market share in France and eastern Europe.

Engineering Contracting

Sinomach focuses on engineering contracting and supply chains, and has now completed clean energy projects with an installed capacity of 11.8 gigawatts (GW), with one underway with a contracted capacity of 11GW.

Sinomach inked with Deyang a clean energy technology equipment design and construction general contract project to jointly build a state-level clean energy equipment characteristic town in the city.

The Angola SOYO Combined-cycle Power Plant was demonstrated at the conference. Accounting for 10 percent of Angola's installed capacity already in use, the plant has alleviated local power shortages and benefited more than half of the people in Angola. It has been awarded the China Electric Power Quality Engineering Award, China's highest honor for project quality in the power construction industry, and the Luban Prize, China's top award for construction engineering, in the overseas project sector.

SUMEC showed integrated new energy solutions (solar panels). The company focuses on clean energy represented by solar and wind power, and its business covers research and development, production and sale of photovoltaic modules, investment, development and construction of centralized and distributed power stations, operation and maintenance of power stations, and integrated energy solutions including electricity sales, energy storage, energy saving and emission reduction, and carbon trading. It is committed to becoming a leading integrator of smart energy system solutions in the industry.

Exhibition Services

Sinomach has heightened its efforts to boost its business of exhibition service in recent years, and is now equipped with a complete exhibition industry chain service system. Sinomach subsidiary China National Machinery Industry International Co Ltd (SINOMACHINT) leads the way in exhibitions in China, and the number of overseas agents exhibiting has been first in China for many years.

For this event, SINOMACHINT exerted its professional expertise in conventions and exhibitions, and laid emphasis on activity planning, big data analysis, and service guarantees. It also assisted in inviting key enterprises of different fields including Fortune 500 companies and leading industrial enterprises.

Combining with the key strengths of exhibitors, SINOMACHINT designed and built featured exhibition areas, especially an outdoor one which allowed the national achievements in the field of clean energy equipment to be fully demonstrated.

With high temperatures in large areas in China for over 50 days, several provinces such as Jiangsu, Anhui and Hebei have issued directives asking industrial enterprises to limit industrial electricity use to meet the needs of people's daily livelihoods.

The high temperatures and drought will eventually go away, but the energy structure of the nation needs to be optimized so as to make it more robust in the face of challenges.

Currently, clean energy accounts for just 15 percent of global energy sources, which is not enough to cope with emergencies brought by extreme weather conditions. It often forces nations to increase the use of fossil fuels. It is thus necessary to increase the percentage of clean energy before such extremes happen.
