The headquarters office building of the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS was officially handed over recently in Nigeria's capital city of Abuja.

The landmark complex, aided by the Chinese government, was independently designed and fully managed by SIPPR Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (SIPPR), a key subsidiary of Sinomach. This project, built with meticulous craftsmanship, writes a new chapter in China-West Africa friendly cooperation.

With a total floor area of about 36,000 square meters, the ECOWAS headquarters is renowned as the "Eye of West Africa" because of its distinctive arc-shaped architecture and regional landmark status. 

The complex consists of a modern office building and a grand conference hall capable of seating nearly 800 people. 

Utilizing fluid arc-shaped architectural language, the structure resembles an eye gazing into the future, symbolizing ECOWAS's commitment to safeguarding regional peace and leading future development. Now standing tall in central Abuja, it has become a striking highlight on the city skyline.

As the designing institution, SIPPR adhered closely to the concepts of green development, smart construction and high efficiency with human-centric considerations throughout the process. 

Adapted to the local tropical climate, the building adopts natural ventilation, sunshade systems and energy-saving materials to substantially reduce energy consumption. 

Equipped with advanced conference systems and information platforms, it's expected to meet the exact needs for ECOWAS summits, ministerial meetings and daily office operations. 

The elongated architectural volume is cleverly zoned to include lounge areas, rooftop gardens and nurseries — creating an efficient and comfortable working environment for staff.

Overall, the new ECOWAS headquarters is viewed as a benchmark for SIPPR in advancing its Belt and Road cooperation and in implementing China's foreign assistance strategy. It's also expected to serve as a "shining name card" for the friendly cooperation between China and West African nations.
