CMEC makes new progress in livelihood projects

As it continues its the high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative framework, China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) has recently made remarkable progress in several livelihood projects, receiving high recognition from both Chinese and foreign representatives.

LOT5 Bath Hospital in Guyana opens

The LOT5 Bath Hospital, located in Region 5, Guyana, has been completed and officially opened. The project was carried out by China CAMC Engineering Co., Ltd. (CAMCE), part of SINOMACH Engineering Group, under an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract. Guyanese President Mohamed Irfaan Ali, Chinese Ambassador to Guyana Yang Yang, Guyanese Minister of Health Dr. Frank Anthony, and other government officials attended the opening ceremony. Built to address essential public health challenges, the project not only enhanced the company's reputation in an emerging market but also laid a solid foundation for a lasting presence in Guyana and the wider Caribbean region.

Expansion of Punta Huete International Airport in Nicaragua

Chinese Ambassador to Nicaragua Chen Xi and Economic and Commercial Counselor Zhao Chunjiang recently visited the site of the Punta Huete International Airport Expansion Project, undertaken by CAMCE. They received a detailed briefing on the project's progress, technical solutions, and construction challenges, and held in-depth discussions with the project management and technical teams, extending their regards to both Chinese and Nicaraguan staff members.

At present, the construction camp has been completed, and material shipments, site clearance, and preparatory works are underway. As a landmark Belt and Road project, once completed it will significantly enhance Nicaragua's global connectivity and contribute to the country's economic and social development.

Steady progress in Nouakchott Sanitation Project, Mauritania

Xiao Wensheng, Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Mauritania, recently visited CMEC's Mauritania branch to inspect temporary construction facilities and on-site safety measures for the Nouakchott City Sanitation Project (Zone A). The project team has already completed installation of the main pipeline network three months ahead of schedule. Once operational, the project will put an end to the dependence on purchasing water for 40% of Nouakchott residents. The project team has pledged to spare no effort to ensure the on-time, high-quality delivery of the water supply system, thereby addressing the city's long-standing wastewater treatment challenges, improving local living conditions, and further promoting China-Mauritania economic and trade cooperation.
