The supporting projects for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing, which was undertaken by China Machinery Tenth International Construction Co (CMTIC) affiliated to Sinomach, were recently completed and passed the acceptance inspection.

The projects include a central wastewater treatment plant for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and an urban wastewater treatment plant along with their supporting pipelines in Chongli district of Zhangjiakou city, North China’s Hebei province.

The projects will serve the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games and are in any event among municipal priorities in wastewater treatment. They will cover core Olympic areas including the Genting Resort Secret Garden and the Thaiwoo Ski Resort and Alpine Park, as well as surrounding areas such as the Chang-Cheng-Ling Scenic, the Wanlong Paradise Resort and the Dolomiti Town.

Chongli is a well-known ski resort and the amount of yielded wastewater varies significantly with the seasons: mounting up to the peak in winter and downing the bottom in summer. To this end, the projects adopted an advanced wastewater treatment technology (modified UCT method), a low energy consumption denitrification and phosphorus removal process developed on the basis of the traditional A2O process, which can flexibly adjust the operation mode according to the change of water quality, to meet the quality requirements of wastewater treatment.

The construction drawing design of the urban wastewater treatment plant needed to consider the complex terrain along the line. The project team conducted field surveys on routing and construction problems for many times, and scheduled adjustment schemes and solution measures to ensure high quality completion of the project.

CMTIC has undertaken hundreds of municipal environmental protection projects in such fields as municipal water supply, water transmission and distribution, wastewater treatment, solid waste treatment and environmental restoration, and has won over 40 provincial and ministerial awards as well as more than 10 patents in the environmental protection sector.
