China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), a subsidiary of Sinomach, will be in charge of the construction of the second phase of an overhaul project for Kostolac B coal-fired power plant in Serbia.

At a total cost of $715.6 million, the second phase of the project consists of building a 350 MW unit and expanding the capacity of an outdoor coal mine.

Upon completion, which is scheduled for 2020, the project is expected to produce 2.5 billion kWhs of electricity annually, increasing the total output capacity of Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS), Serbia’s State-owned power utility, by 5 percent.

CMEC has already completed the first phase of the overhaul project by upgrading units 1 and 2 at Kostolac B.
