2014-05-14On the morning of January 22, 2014, China National Heavy Machinery Corporation (CHMC) signed the EPC contract for the Saravan-to-Sekong 500 KV high voltage power transmission and transformation project with the Electricite du Laos (EDL). With a duration of 43 months, the project involves building two 500 kV transformer substations and 72 kilometers of 500 kV power transmission lines. Laos Vice-Premier Somsavat Lengsavad attended the contract signing ceremony.
In recent years, guided by the general directive on international market development, CHMC has been consolidating its position in traditional markets, expanding markets in Africa, and penetrating Latin-American markets. Chairman Lu Wenjun personally leads teams at the frontline to penetrate and develop markets in Southeast Asian countries. With priority given to power project tracking and development, these teams have been actively exploring business opportunities in Laos by conducting market surveys and analyses, comparing and selecting projects, and actively promoting project progress. Since the MOU was signed for this power transmission and transformation project on November 1, 2013, only two and a half months passed before the formal contract was signed, setting the shortest time record in the history of CHMC’s market penetration.
The signing of the EPC contract for the power transmission and transformation project in Laos marks CHMC’s market expansion in Southeast Asian countries, improves CHMC’s competitive edge in the field of power transmission and transformation, and paves the way for CHMC to further develop power transmission and transformation projects and hydropower projects in Laos.
