CHMC Myanmar 3×20MW KUN Hydropower Plant Project Completed

On July 8th, the completion ceremony for the Myanmar KUN Hydropower Plant was held at the project site, indicating that the EPC contract for the KUN Hydropower Plant Equipment and Metal Structure Project was completely delivered.

All three units of the power plant were operating at full load and all equipment was under good operational conditions. Ever since the three units of KUN hydropower plant commenced operations, the plant has sustained an output of over 50MW, making it one of the two power plants with the most stable on-load operation performance among all operating power plants in Myanmar. The plant plays a significant role in satisfying Myanmar’s power needs and is another accomplishment for CHMC in the development of Myanmar’s hydropower market.

The Myanmar KUN Hydropower Plant is located on the Kunchaung River system, 220km northeast of Rangoon, with a total capacity of 60MW and includes 3 20MW vertical shaft mixed flow generator sets and 8km of 230kv power transmission and transformation lines. CHMC is responsible for the design of the steel structures of the power plant buildings, power plant system, 8km of the 230kv parallel power transmission lines, metal structures such as the trash rack and tail water lock, penstocks, and tunnel steel lining, as well as the manufacture, provision, shipping, and instructions for installation and commissioning of the complete equipment.
