The Venezuela Water Supply Project

        China National Construction & Agricultural Machinery Import & Export Corporation (CAMC) and the Venezuelan Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources signed the contract for Section 3 of Phase II Water Supply Project in Falcon State of Venezuela. The contract calls for the supply and installation of 60-kilometer water supply pipelines. The construction period is of 14 months.
        This water transfer pipeline project was the largest buyer’s credit loan project that China had so far undertaken in Latin America. It transfers water from Maticora Lake in Latin America through 180 kilometers to the City of Coro. The contract scope included the survey, design, manufacture, supply and installation of pipes as well as the construction of water treatment plant. Up to the date, the project has gone through two phases. The contract for phase I was signed in May 2003 and the contract volume was of 100 million U.S. dollars. The contract for Section I of Phase II project was signed in June 2005 and the contract volume was of 80.30 million U.S. dollars. The contract for Section II of Phase II project was signed in August 2006.
