The Third SINOMACH Employees Sport Meet was held in Fengtai Stadium in Beijing. Over 2300 players and coaches from 49 organizations affiliated to SINOMACH attended this grand event.

SASAC convened an experiment working conference on board of directors at SINOMACH. The list of Top 500 Chinese Enterprises for 2009 was announced. SINOMACH ranked No. 59 place, moving up 8 places compared with last year.

China National Machinery & Equipment Import & Export Corporation (CMEC) and German Evonik Steag GmbH signed at the Great Hall of People in Beijing the EPC contract for Turkish AYAS 1 x 600 MW supercritical power plant project. The signing of this contract marked the fourth power plant project exported by CMEC to Turkey and at the same time, this was the third 600 MW supercritical thermal power plant exported by CMEC.

China National Heavy Machinery Research Institute Co. Ltd.( CNHMRI) and Hanye Special Steel Company Limited of Henan Longcheng Group signed the contract for the 400×2700 mm2 thick plate billet continuous casting machine with the largest section area in the world to be made locally in China, which would be a new milestone marking the technological level of the continuous casting equipment in China.

The performance assessment result disclosed by SASAC for central SASAC enterprises in 2008 revealed that SINOMACH, FAW, China Building Materials Group Corporation, China Railway Construction Corporation and China Coal Technology & Engineering Group Corporation were for the first time entered Class A.

The State-owned Asset Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) formally issued a notice, approving the merge of the complete Chinese Academy of Agricultural Mechanization Sciences (CAAMS) into SINOMACH as a wholly-owned subsidiary. The reorganization of the two enterprises was another major achievement made by SINOMACH in its implementation of the requirements raised by SASAC on the adjustment of the distribution of the state-owned economy for central SASAC enterprises as well as in its implementation of the strategy for the external reorganization.

The high-throughput tube heat exchanger for the first 1 million tons/year PX unit developed by Gansu Lanke Petrochemical High Techno Equipment Co. Ltd. successfully passed the ex-work acceptance. This was the first high-throughput tube heat exchanger independently designed in China. The history of similar products relying on the import thus came to the end, marking a new milestone for the research and development of petrochemical equipment in China.

The first highly energy efficient plate-shell 10500 M2 heat exchanger and the 10910 M2 plate type air preheater for 1 million t/year PX unit developed by Gansu Lanke Petrochemical High Techno Equipment Co. Ltd. passed the ex-work acceptance test and would be used for 1 Mt/a CCR unit of Urumqi Petrochemical Company under China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). This marked the entry of a new stage for the research and development of the heavy-duty petrochemical equipment in China and the end of the history of similar products relying on the import.

China National Machinery & Equipment Import & Export Corporation and Sri Lanka’s Ceylon electricity Board (CEB) signed the EPC contract for Phase 2 project of Puttalam Coal Fired Power Plant. This was so far the largest economic and trade cooperation project between China and Sri Lanka and was the largest engineering and construction project in Sri Lanka since the founding of Sri Lanka. The total contract value exceeded $850 million U.S. dollars.

SINOMACH convened a summary and commendation meeting for the further study and the practice of the scientific outlook for developments, at which the campaign for the study and the practice of the scientific outlook for developments was summarized in a comprehensive manner and further arrangements were made for the consolidation and expansion of the achievements from this campaign.

The expert certification revealed that R & D achievement of the project for“the manufacturing technology of MEMS silicon-based pressure sensitive chips”, independently developed by Shenyang Academy of Instrumentation Sciences reached the level that was leading in China and advanced internationally. This technology filled up the gap for China in the independent mass production of silicon-based pressure sensitive chips.

Upon the approval by the State Owned Asset Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council and after the examination and approval by the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, China Machinery Industry Corporation (SINOMACH) was renamed as a limited liability company and the use of the former name was terminated. The English name, the abbreviation, the address and the form of contacts remain unchanged.

A grand ceremony was held to mark the unveiling of Shanghai Petrochemical Equipment Production Base and the foundation stone laying for Shanghai Lanbin Heavy Duty Petrochemical Equipment R&D Project of Gansu Lanke Petrochemical Techno Equipment Co. Ltd.. The laying of foundation stone for this project was a great event for the development of the machinery and equipment manufacturing industry in SINOMACH and at the same time, it symbolized that the reform and developments of Lanke Petrochemical Techno Equipment Company entered a brand new stage.

The EPC contract signing ceremony for Kalungwishi Hydropower Station in Zambia was held in Beijing. China National Electric Equipment Corporation (CNEEC) would act as the general contractor for the project. It was the largest contracting project in terms of the value that had been ever undertaken by China in Zambia. The contract value amounted to $669 million U.S. dollars.

SINOMACH and Ping An Annuity Insurance Company signed the custody management contract for the enterprise annuity, which marked the official commencement of the enterprise annuity plan for SINOMACH.

The first meeting of the first session of the board of directors of SINOMACH was held at the group headquarters. This was an important meeting of the milestone significance in the course of the governing of SINOMACH. The meeting reviewed 8 different corporate governing documents including the corporate charters, the working system of the board of directors as well as the proposals about the set up and members for the special committees under the board of directors. The meeting also listened to the report by the management on the operation of the enterprise.

At the meeting held in Wendeng, Shandong Province to announce the Top 100 Enterprises in the machinery industry in China and the Top 30 Enterprises in the automobile industry in China, China Federation of Machinery Industry and China Automobile Industry Association made public the Top 100 Enterprises in the machinery industry and the 30 Top enterprises in the automobile industry for year 2008. SINOMACH ranked No. 1 place in the list of the Top 100 Enterprises in the machinery industry with its sales revenue amounting to Rmb.93.267 billion yuan.

The inauguration ceremony for the construction of the Cambodian -Stung Taty Hydropower Station BOT project undertaken by China National Heavy Machinery Corporation (CHMC) and the opening ceremony of Beijing Sanlian International Investment Company Limited and Cambodian Stung Taty Hydropower Company Limited were held in Beijing, China. This was the project with the largest investment volume that had been ever taken by Chinese enterprises in Cambodia.

A meeting was held at the corporate headquarters to announce the external board directors of SINOMACH. Jiang Zhigang, the director-general of No. 2 Department of Enterprise Cadres from the State-owned Asset Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, made public the notice on the appointment of 6 external board directors of Han Xizheng, Liu Gaozhuo, An Dewu, Lian Weizeng, Tao Jianxing and Zhang Lainiang and delivered an important speech on the significance of the work relating to experimental points for board of directors. Xi Jinping, the member of the Standing Committee, the secretary of the secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and the vice president of the state, accompanied by responsible leaders from relevant departments of the state and leaders from Henan Province and Luoyang Municipality, went to China YTO Group Corporation (China YTO) for investigations. Approved by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the State-owned Asset Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), the People’s Bank of China and other examination and approving authorities, SINOMACH successfully issued enterprise bonds of 3-year fixed interest with the total value of Rmb.800 million yuan and the 3% annual interest in face value.

China National Machinery & Equipment Import and Export Corporation (CMEC) signed the EPC contract for “the construction of the electrification project for Southern suburbs of Luanda in Angola”. This was the largest urban electric power network construction project in Angola at present with the contract value amounting to $298 million U.S. dollars.

The Cooperation Agreement on 38.2 MW Solar Power Plant Project in Czech was formally signed off not long ago. SUMEC Group Corporation (SUMEC) is the general contractor. The value of the project is about $ 100 million U.S. dollars. This is the largest solar power plant ever built in the Republic of Czech since its founding and it is also the largest solar power plant project ever built in the Eastern Europe.

The first 1 million-ton class coal-oil demonstration project in China was put into the trial run with coal by China Shenhua Coal-oil Company Limited (Shenhua Coal Oil) and produced the qualified naphtha, diesel and other target products. The plate type wet air cooler, developed by Gansu Lanke Techno Equipment Company Limited, was for the first time successfully used in the direct coal liquefaction unit.
