The National Agricultural Machinery Equipment Innovation Center unveiled the first 5G-enabled hydrogen-powered electric tractor (ET504-H) in China on June 16 at the Guohong Advanced Manufacturing Industrial Park in Luoyang city of Central China’s Henan province. It was jointly developed by the center and the Luoyang Base of the Tsinghua High-end Equipment Research Institute.

Led by YTO Group Corporation (YTO), a subsidiary of Sinomach, the National Agricultural Machinery Equipment Innovation Center has brought together high-quality domestic innovation resources, such as Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science and Technology Co, Tsinghua University and the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The new electric tractor introduces 5G mobile communication technology, which can perceive the running state of the vehicle and surrounding working environment in real time. It takes advantage of 5G features such as high speed, low delay and large connection volume, and combines them with intelligent unmanned cluster technology to effectively improve the reliability of agricultural machinery operations and provide consumers with higher quality services.

YTO said that the center will continue to pour efforts into developing new energy unmanned tractors, get ahead in such key technologies as unmanned driving and electric control, and create new energy unmanned equipment in the field of agricultural machinery.

It will also further promote industrial upgrading in that field, laying a solid foundation for its future development and taking China’s presence in it to a higher level, said the company.
