The China-France Economic Forum, initiated by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of the Economy and Finance of France, was held at the Great Hall of the People on Nov 6 in Beijing.

Centering on topics such as “openness and innovation”, “coping with climate change together to protect animal diversity”, “third-party market cooperation” and “nuclear energy cooperation”, representatives from the two governments as well as from entrepreneurs and think tanks exchanged views and delivered keynote speeches.

Zhang Xiaolun, chairman of Sinomach, made a speech at the forum on “expanding cooperation and sharing development achievements”.

Zhang highlighted Sinomach’s investments in Europe and trade cooperation with Europe, indicating that as one of the earliest Chinese companies to carry out international cooperation, Sinomach attaches great importance to cooperation with Europe in investment, trade, engineering and industrial park development. Benefiting from bilateral cooperation, the two sides have gained win-win results, with Sinomach’s high quality products and services being spread all over the world.

Zhang emphasized that with the active support of their heads of state China and France have continuously deepened strategic cooperation in traditional areas and sought new cooperation opportunities. In the current international environment, both sides should work together to explore and innovate multilateral trade modes to achieve win-win development, setting an example for innovative international cooperation.

Zhang concluded by saying that Chinese and French companies have complementary advantages and enjoy a promising prospect of wider cooperation. Sinomach is willing to work together with more French companies to achieve win-win results through innovation in emerging fields such as smart cities, intelligent manufacturing, the health and environmental protection industries and financial investment. The company is ready to work side by side with more French companies in Belt and Road Initiative construction and to cooperate in production capacity, technology and trade.

During the forum, Zhang met with Jean-Pascal Tricoire, chairman and CEO of Schneider Electric. They spoke highly of the progress and achievements brought by mutual cooperation and conducted in-depth discussion for further innovation of their operational modes and expansion of cooperation areas, especially in strengthening top-level design in intelligent manufacturing and improving coordination mechanisms and enhancing cooperation.

This year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and France. The China-France Economic Forum was the second highest-level business activity between enterprises of the two countries that Sinomach participated in this year, after the one in March.

In that month, Zhang, on behalf of the company, took part in the China-France economic and trade exchange in France. During that event, he visited Schneider Electric's headquarters for the first time. He had in-depth communication with Tricoire on implementing the strategic cooperation agreement and strengthening ties in environmental protection, intelligent manufacturing and digital transformation.

Sinomach has set up nearly 30 enterprises or branches in more than 10 countries in Europe, with its projects covering numerous fields including electricity, transportation, mining, housing construction, chemicals (pulp), automobiles and shipping. Many technologies and sets of equipment from its European partners are used in its projects in Asia, Africa and South America. Europe is also the company’s most important source of trade imports. At the 2nd China International Import Expo, Sinomach signed 10 projects -- out of 17 in total -- with European companies.
