Joao Baptista Borges, Angolan Minister of Water and Energy, visited the construction site of a water plant in Cacuaco, a city in Luanda, Angola, on June 13.

The water plant project was initiated by the Chinese government to help Angola develop. China Machinery Engineering Co (CMEC), a subsidiary of Sinomach, carried out the project.

The minister approved of current construction progress, saying that CMEC is not only a contractor, but also a reliable partner of the ministry.

He said that the water plant has drawn a lot of attention from the Angolan government and local people, who hoped it would be completed and begin operating in 2020.

The project consists of a water treatment plant with a daily production capacity of 90,000 cubic meters and a supporting transformer substation.

The plant will supply drinking water for nearly one million people living in Luanda.
