A ceremony to celebrate the installation of the first PV panel for a 246MW large-scale solar power station, a joint investment project of China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) and DTEK (the largest private energy company in Ukraine), was held in Nikopol, Ukraine on Oct 4.

The project manager of the power station introduced the project and praised the excellent progress of construction work at the site.

The new power station is the largest green-energy project in Ukraine and will be one of the three largest PV power stations in Europe when completed. It is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs for the local economy and reduce annual CO2 emissions by 300,000 tons, said the CEO of DTEK.

Cao Qing, general manager of the business department in CMEC, said that the solar power station represented an unusual project with a very tight construction schedule and a heavy workload for those involved. But the joint work will serve as an example of cooperation between Ukrainian and Chinese enterprises, he argued.

Chinese and Ukrainian workers jointly installed the first PV panel at the end of the ceremony. After that, the two sides held an in-depth discussion on the progress of the project. Both said they will do their utmost to ensure the quality and completion of the project as scheduled.
