The second China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE), with the theme of "New Start, New Opportunities, New Accomplishments", was held in Changsha, the capital of Central China's Hunan province, from September 26 to 29.

Sinomach has developed its business in Africa for decades as the continent modernizes itself. At the expo, the blue exhibition booth of Sinomach was a highlight for state-owned enterprises, and gave an in-depth overview of the company's business in Africa with comprehensive use of models, sand tables, photos and videos.

Over the years, Sinomach has expanded its business in the major industries of the African economy such as agriculture, energy, transportation and health care through investment, project contracting, trade, education and training.

The company has undertaken 650 projects including those completed and others still under construction, with a total contract value of $41.5 billion. The projects are in more than 50 African countries, effectively improving local people's livelihoods and promoting their economic development.

Sinomach has chalked up a number of records in Africa: Africa's first waste-to-energy facility the Reppie Waste-to-Energy Power Plant, Africa's first modern wrestling arena the Senegal Sports Wrestling Field, Africa's largest thermal power plant the Angola SOYO I Combined Cycle Power Station and Africa's largest sugar mill the Ethiopia Welkait Sugar Factory.

Sinomach also built up the China Library at the University of Dar es Salaam, the largest and most modern one in Africa, undertook an aid project to build Africa's largest general hospital, the Levy Mwanawasa Hospital in Zambia, and completed the power transformer project of the Djiploho Hydropower Station to establish the largest national grid in West Africa, as well as the Potable Water Supply Project in the city of Yaoundé that draws from the Sanaga River in Cameroon and is the largest drinking water treatment plant under construction in central and western Africa.

Sinomach has donated and exported medical masks, protective suits and other medical supplies to African countries in an effort to help them fight against the epidemic. In 2020, five hospitals built by Sinomach were put into operation and contributed to the anti-COVID-19 battle in Africa.

The smooth construction of the hospitals was attributable to the company's complete whole industry business chain, which includes design, consultation, engineering and construction of medical treatment and integrated buildings for convalescence, as well as supply of related medical equipment and pharmaceutical products. In the past ten years, Sinomach built 45 modern hospitals in 22 African countries.

The Kenya 102MW Kipeto Wind Farm is among the company's major infrastructure projects in Kenya. The 5000MW power generation project will greatly alleviate local power shortages once operational. The recently-built Tana Beles No 1 Sugar Factory in Ethiopia, with a refined sugar production capacity of 200,000 tons per year, will provide nearly 10,000 jobs for local people and bring extensive economic and social benefits to Ethiopia.

Benin Textile Company, which was established by Sinomach and the Benin government to accelerate the country's agricultural mechanization, has become a model project of cooperation between the governments of China and Benin. The "Dongfanghong" series tractors produced by Sinomach YTO are of great use to African farmers. FIRMAN, a brand of generators made by Sinomach affiliate SUMEC Group has become a household name in Africa.

Adhering to the concept of green and low-carbon development, Sinomach has built power stations, factories, farms, hospitals and housing in Africa to improve the well-being of more African people.
